ALEX MORSANUTTO is an award-winning filmmaker and director known for creating cinematic, stylized films, commercials, and original storytelling across mediums.

He began his career in journalism, covering the sports beat for his local newspaper before working at ABC News. Drawn toward more expressive storytelling, he transitioned into filmmaking and went on to create Silvermine Productions, a boutique production company focused on narrative-driven content.

Through Silvermine, Alex has directed and produced work for global brands including Unilever, Brother, Kiehl’s, CBS, Kona Brewing Company, and Chevrolet, bringing a cinematic approach to commercial storytelling.

His narrative work has screened at film festivals worldwide. His short film Hi-Glow Retro received multiple awards and was featured in No Film School, Short of the Week, and Cinephilia & Beyond. He later created Waiting: The Story of DJ Morrell, a sports documentary that premiered on The Atlantic and FOX Sports, and Operation Cavity, a children’s adventure series that premiered at the Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival.

Most recently, Alex directed his debut feature film, DARK SKULLS, a Viking-era psychological thriller, completing a 25-day international shoot in Norway.

As a producer, he worked on TRAPPED for Oscar-nominated directors Sam Cutler-Kreutz and David Cutler-Kreutz, which won the Special Jury Award at SXSW. He also produced Scent of Pho, a globally released film approaching $2 million in gross revenue.

In addition to his directing work, Alex co-founded the Norwalk Film Festival, helping to build a platform for emerging filmmakers and foster a growing creative community.

He was named one of Connecticut Magazine’s “40 Under 40” and is a graduate of New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where he double majored in Film/TV Production and Journalism.

Alex is a first-generation American with dual EU citizenship.
